The fishing thread
Haven't seen a thread on here regarding fishing.

Trout season just ended at my local Lake in Laguna Niguel.

So the banks are empty. Good time to get in some carp fishing, which is not very popular over here, it's mainly Bass, Trout and Catfish.

Anyway, I found a great carp tackle company in Oklahoma called Big Carp Tackle. Good selection, easy website to navigate and buy from and quick shipping, betterthan amazon.

Managed to get some hair hooks, feeders and tackle at a good price...

Looking to get out there this week for a few days now the Carp are done Spawning, they will be hanging out in the shallows feeding. Can't wait.

Laguna Niguel lake is one of a few out here that allow you to fish with corn, although baiting your swim is illegal.

Gonna try sweetcorn, boilies and Gonna give plastic corn a try too.

Anyone else got a fishing trip planned?

Re: The fishing thread
I've had two morning sessions on the tench, 24 fish up to just shy of 5lb and plenty more small rudd and perch.

My 40 year old 12 foot pocket money carbon fibre rod got a outing with a Mitchell 204, both still up to the job.

Looking forward to June 16th. that's when the proper fishing starts on the river, stalk out a chub or two.

My local club has just opened back up but it's daytime fishing only.

Going to take the 10ft Midday waggler and a few tins of sweetcorn down to a small picturesque Kentish lake on Wednesday.

Re: The fishing thread
I foulhooked a carp in winter when lure fishing for pike a few months back, treble went in the top flank, a lazy draggy scrap ensued. 22lb biggest carp I've ever landed. Obviously doesn't count though.

Wound up the two carpers on the lake at the time though.

So all good.

Treble hook? *winces*

Caught a couple of Pike using dead-bait on the bottom - amazing looking fish!

Going tomorrow. There’s two small lakes adjacent to each other one is full of tench around 4lb the other full of carp averaging 7lb.

I’m guaranteed to trawl, unless the fish are in rapey mode

Re: The fishing thread
Barbless trebles, easy enough to take out with the right equipment if you are capable.

Very rare to get a deep hooked pike with lures, not unusual with dead baiting by inexperienced anglers.

I've seen a few blokes live baiting with single hooks, fair play to them.

I think as long as you have decent fish handling skills and are confident that you know what you're doing, keep at it.

A few dead pike on a club water this year, nearly always carpers catching them by mistake and then not having a clue what to do...

I'm well into fishing especially carp. Jealous as hell. Would love to fish in the States.
I travel to Alabama a lot. Fish the rivers there but its saltwater.

Re: The fishing thread
Not being a fisherman myself, am I right in saying that the fishing season doesn’t start until June 15th?

Because I live near a river an I’ve clocked multiple cunts out fishing the last couple of weeks.

One bloke slinging out ground bait clearly intending to come back and fish it in an hour or two looked very sheepish when I waved at him and gave him a friendly good morning. He didn’t come back.

Re: The fishing thread
Toe Rag.

Close season on rivers is from March 15th to June 15th.

So no one should be fishing until 16th June.

Of course many East Europeans do not give a fuck and carry on regardless, no club ticket, no rod licence, out catching their dinner.

lowermarshhammer 10:31 Mon May 25
Re: The fishing thread
No close season on still waters now for around three decades although many clubs will still close their waters for a month or two in spring; some may choose to allow fishing 12 months of the year.

Re: The fishing thread
People fishing in the close season on rivers really boils my piss, selfish cunt behaviour of the highest order in my opinion.

Toe Rag 10:57 Mon May 25
Re: The fishing thread
Yes, Eastern European’s a big problem here, last week the Environment agency found a huge net fully across the river. The river being a good 45/50 feet across at that point. The net was also the height of a fully grown man I’d say.

The bloke I saw putting out ground bait was almost certainly English though and judging by the head to toe woodland cammo he was wearing probably a fairly serious fisherman and so should know better. Cheeky monkey.

The net story.

This happened a couple of miles down river from where I am.

Ffs!

Re: The fishing thread
Toe rag it’s perfectly legal to bait spots during the close season and anglers often do it for weeks, months in advance of fishing

It doesn’t bother me that much.
I ride alongside the Avon a fair bit and the type
of people do it are always the type of people that will never catch anything anyway

Re: The fishing thread
Fished one of my club waters,Great Myles Lake a couple of times yesterday.
Had a couple of decent carp but looks like they are spawning now so will only fish for the roach and rudd for next few weeks.

I love the peace and tranquility ,and nice to get away from the Mrs.

Bruuno

Last season got stuck in a snag, came free eventually, came back with a line with 6 hooks all with feathers, maybe the type of thing used for mackerel?

In a weirpool on a very small river. Absolute cunts doing this kind of thing, they need a fucking good slap. Environment Agency should just taser the vermin doing this and then throw them in whilst it's still shocking the fuck out of them.
